Healthy Indulgence

I got a sudden inspiration to try out making chocolate covered raisins.  The sudden inspiration was a visit from one of my brothers — he lives in a different country and mentioned how these would be hard to get where he is and how he likes to stock up on them when he visits! Who doesn’t like chocolate covered raisins, anyways? They are so so simple to make and a healthy treat, but best of all they’re a fun and fast DIY to do with kids on a rainy day (or any day you feel like having a bit of a treat, really)


You’ll need only 2 simple ingredients:

  1. Dark chocolate 70% +(high cocoa content…not that sugary junk!)
  2. Your choice of raisins

All you have to do is:

  • Freeze these…(helps them harden faster)…


  • Melt this…(in a bowl on top of a bowl of boiled water will do the trick)…


  • Mix them togetherinto the chocolate and lay on a plate to harden, or pop back in the freezer. They will of course clump up into little clusters which you can leave as is, or you can quickly break them up….And you get this! Delish!!


Benefits of Chocolate:

Dark chocolate 70% + (not the sugary junk that’s everywhere) comes from the cocoa bean and offers plenty of nutrient as well as one of the best forms of antioxidants.

It has plenty of:

  • Soluble fiber
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Copper
  • Potassium,
  • Phosphorus
  • Zinc
  • Selenium
